Storm of '03: Select by Station Location
Help page for the surface text data
This is a help page
for using the surface text data for the February 2003 storm case
study. The information provided here describes the text data selected
by location.
Each text file has 21 columns and is comma delimited. Go to the
'How do I...?' page for tips on working with a comma delimited file. The
first row of each file contains a label describing the data in each column.
The following list describes the data in each column in the order the
columns appear in the data file.
- The station where the observation is taken (labeled 'station'), identified
by the state and the station's 3 letter identifier.
- The latitude of the station (labeled 'lat').
- The longitude of the station (labeled 'lon'), negative longitudes are
in the western hemisphere.
- The day of the observation (labeled 'day').
- The time of the observation in UTC (labeled 'hour').
