A poem inspired by all the buzzing and biting on a backpacking trip to Matterhorn Canyon in August 2006

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes need to eat too.

Holistic new age paradigm,
let them eat you.

Or simply stay inside always.

Who needs mosquitoes?
Would the Earth fall apart if they go away?
Would the bats find new food?

Jonas Salk,
take a deep breath,
blow them away,
and run fast.
