After reading "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, some things have become clear.

The Republican party today IS business. The whole goal of this party is to make a few people filthy rich regardless of the costs to anyone (people) or anything (clean air, water, other animals or the environment at large). This party gathers loyal followers from the masses of common people by promising them they can keep their guns and bibles and that the other party is trying to take these items away from them. This party also imparts fear in the populace with constant terror warnings, and uses hatred, now of Arabs, as a way of to unify the people. Medical doctors are usually Republicans because of the strong incentive to have a lucrative medical lobby. The Republicans are an unlikely connection of gun nuts, bible thumpers, racists, war mongers, slave owners, and members of the business elite. They try to squash labor, and the middle class, by importing vast numbers of illegal aliens to do labor in this country, for these illegals have no rights, and they will often be forced to work for free, or for slave wages. The second way they squash labor is to export jobs to India and other places where people will gladly accept slave wages, or will submit to labor as part of their prison confinement.

The fallacy of this party is money. Money is just a defined-quantity, and it relies on the faith of the people at large that a dollar actually can buy something. Money is an entirely non-real thing, for if you are stranded on a desert island you can not live long by eating it. Lack of money is very real, as if you are in this state, you are an ideal target of exploitation by the Republican party, or if you will, business, for they are the same thing.

The Democratic party today IS law. The whole goal of this party is to make a few people filthy rich, regardless of the costs to anyone (people) or anything (clean water, clean air, other animals, or the environment). This party gathers loyal followers from the masses of common people by promising them that they will stand up for their rights. They will defend the masses against exploitation by business, or the Republicans since they are the same thing. What these politicians do not mention is that they will gladly accept a large fraction of the spoils won from injury lawsuits and other unfair business practice lawsuits. This party appeals, somewhat, to labor, intellectuals, environmentalists, and women's rights advocates, as well as, of course, members in the circle of elite lawyers.

The fallacy of this party is the same as that of the other party. Common people to this party are pawns to be used by these lawyers to attack business (or Republicans for they are the same thing), and once the spoils of war are won, the elite grab the reward money and run.

The Democratic party has to do at least a little good for the common person. However, the Republican party functions by causing great fear in the common person to do anything but say "I am a robot. I perform my function as programmed." That function is to make the Republican elite filthy rich.

These parties really are ideological enemies. They exist in a constant state of warfare. We need to find our way out of this nightmare.

So am I just saying that money is the root of all evil? I might think that the pursuit of huge sums of money as ones only goal in life is extremely shallow and stupid as nothing is left behind at your death but waste and stench - no accomplishments. There is no such thing as security, only opportunity to grow as a person, and to build a better today and tomorrow for our kids and ourselves by pursuing noble goals of musicianship, science, mathematics, engineering, the performance arts, basically anything that advances life. Money needs to be thought of in its proper perspective as a symbol of exchange of worthiness between people that says what you do is worthwhile, I appreciate it, and I hereby trade you a few of your dollars for an opportunity that you might enjoy these fruits of my efforts. Money is evil when it dominates government because it is inevitable that a few cowardly fearful maniacs will exploit the people solely for the purpose of filling their houses full of dollars so they can have a false sense of security. All the common people have to do is say "Your money is worthless here" and the security blanket associated with amassing huge sums of money falls apart.

What does mega money buy? The privilege of being separate from the common people. Mega money will buy you your own boat, airplane, estate, island, wilderness, hotel, and farm. The only people you ever have to see are your servants. In fact, this IS the state of our current political system where the politicians are mega-monied and the people are their servants. Our worship of money amounts to a worship of our rulers, and we are manipulated by them to worship money.

In the old days Kings could just make the common people into slaves. Nowadays the common people are directly turned into slaves by the Republicans who give them slave wages to make the Republicans rich, or they are used as pawns by the Democrats to attack the Republicans and try to get their riches in a modern day game of Robin-Hood. The common people are constantly manipulated by the ruling elite into doing things to make the elite rich and powerful.

Government should be divorced from big business and lawyers. We should elect people, not parties, to run our government. The role of government is to provide: 1. Reasonable rules for society; 2. The best possible education for our children; 3. Environmental protection; 4. road maintenance; 5. Clean air and water; 6. Protection against unfair business practices; 7. Human rights for all mankind; 8. General animal rights for all other animals; 9. Medical care for all people; 10. and most of all, wise governance, free of manipulation. Elected officials should make a salary that is in the middle of all the populace, and can not have any connection to business or law firms. Election campaigns will be paid with tax dollars alone, and each candidate will have exactly the same air-time.
